Despite its enthusiasm for the game, the Siliconera review acknowledges that Final Fantasy Resonance has some narrative weaknesses. Its storyline occasionally relies on familiar dramatic tropes and melodramatic moments. Nevertheless, the journey through Lapis, along with its smaller character stories, provides an enjoyable experience.

The connection to older Final Fantasy entries is another appealing aspect. The Vision mechanic creates opportunities to revisit recognizable heroes and abilities, giving the adventure a celebratory feeling for longtime followers of the franchise.

A sequel could preserve these nostalgic elements while developing the original Brave Exvius characters more deeply. It would also give players an opportunity to discover the rest of a story that many international fans never experienced in its original form.

For now, a continuation remains an idea rather than an announced project. Whether Square Enix considers another installment will likely depend on the game's commercial performance and audience reception. The company has not confirmed plans to expand Resonance into a new series.

In an interview published by Cat with Monocle, producer Keisuke Nakashima stated that there were no sequel plans at that time. He explained that the development team intended the current game to deliver a complete story. He also emphasized that any future installment would need to introduce genuinely new ideas rather than simply repeat the original formula.
