Preview: Trivia Murder Party 3 Is Still a Far Cry from the Quality of Its Sequel
--
The variety of minigames is also still limited. There are several new and old minigames available. So we see games like Archery, where safe players try to shoot at risky players on the board to eliminate them.
Canoe, which tasks players with choosing a safe canoe so it won’t sink if everyone agrees; Chainsaw, where you must avoid being touched by a chainsaw in the arena; and Cup, which forces high-risk players to drink from a glass poisoned by high-achieving players to knock one person out.
Count involves counting eyeballs that fall into a glass; Pour tasks you with possibly pouring enough blood to fill a cup that’s already somewhat full until it’s completely full; and Chest involves high-risk players hiding inside it while high-performing players bomb it.
I have to say that Pouring proved to be the biggest problem for me, as that’s what caused the game I was hosting to crash twice.
In my opinion, my biggest impression so far is that *Trivia Murder Party 3* seems to focus more on the minigames than on the quiz itself. Since there’s no voiceover during the quiz segments, the questions seem to focus on a single area of knowledge, and the minigames take longer to play, so it feels a bit unbalanced. Maybe that balance will feel different once we play the full version?
Trivia Murder Party 3 is still in development, but I’d recommend playing the second game rather than the new one in early access. The balance between time spent on quizzes and minigames seems a bit off. There are also some fairly obvious shortcomings, such as the lack of voice acting and what appears to be a limited collection of questions and minigames at the moment. Ultimately, this could grow into something bigger. But I feel that Trivia Murder Party 2 is the better choice for now.
