Review: Trails in the Sky: Chapter 2 Brings a Great JRPG Story to a Close
--
TAME OTONITY – I guess I can’t just say that *The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Chapter 2* does everything Chapter 1 did right—and just as brilliantly and meaningfully—and then end the review right here, can I? Well, that’s true.
This second installment in the Trails in the Sky series is an outstanding JRPG. Nihon Falcom has once again nailed it with this remake. Because of that—and the meticulous execution of both parts—the game feels perfect both on its own and as a whole.
Given that *Trails in the Sky Chapter 2* begins shortly after the events of Chapter 1, it’s a bit difficult to discuss this JRPG’s plot without giving away spoilers. But let’s do our best!
While the first part of the story feels like a coming-of-age tale for Estelle Bright and Joshua—where the two become Junior Bracers in the guild and begin taking on missions that prove they’re capable of helping the community in Liberl.
It also feels like the story is being crafted to prove that Estelle is capable of being a heroine who can change the course of a nation’s destiny when working alongside her allies.
After several major revelations and Joshua’s departure, Estelle is left alone. However, she isn’t the type to just sit around waiting. She sets out on her own quest to find him while also taking on the Ouroboros Enforcers alongside friends and fellow fighters like Anelace, Schera, Olivier, Kloe, and Kevin. The story is heartwarming! Full of action! It has social commentary! It’s really great!
