Roblox's Strategy to Address Copyright Infringement by Launching a Self-Licensing Feature Specifically for Popular Manga Catalogs

TAME MANGA – The global gaming platform Roblox has officially launched a revolutionary system update known as the "In-Game Sales License." Through this new self-serve feature, indie creators are now authorized to sell official manga-themed items directly within their own experiences.

This initiative is fully supported by the Japanese publishing giant Kodansha, which is expanding its popular franchises into the Roblox ecosystem's catalog.

This update, released via the Roblox Creator Hub, offers a welcome change for the developer community. Previously, integrating well-known intellectual property (IP) into a game required navigating complex legal and contractual processes, often involving the licensing of the entire game.

Roblox's new system eliminates this red tape; creators can now utilize specific character or comic assets such as avatar cosmetics, game passes, or seasonal event items—without altering their game's core identity.

A key advantage of this feature is its automated revenue-sharing system. Whenever a player purchases a licensed manga item using Robux, Roblox’s backend system instantly splits the proceeds between the game creator and the IP rights holder in real-time. This approach effectively minimizes royalty disputes while creating a legitimate stream of passive income for both parties.
