SSS-Class Revival Hunter Anime Adaptation
The anime adaptation of SSS-Class Revival Hunter is set to premiere in January 2027. A promotional image, the first trailer, the main cast, and the production team have already been revealed. Crunchyroll has confirmed it will stream the series internationally.
Takeo Otsuka voices Kim Gongja, and Satoshi Hino voices the Sword Emperor.
Gongja begins as an F-rank Hunter before acquiring an S+-rank copying ability that activates upon his death. After witnessing a scandal involving the Flame Emperor—the highest-ranked Hunter—Gongja dies. He subsequently uses a copying ability that transports him 24 hours into the past whenever he dies, embarking on a path of vengeance that leads him to become one of the most powerful Hunters.
The Sword Emperor is a former elite Hunter who becomes Gongja's ghostly companion thanks to his copying ability. Recognizing Gongja's potential, he begins to support him as a partner, and the series follows the two as they strive together to attain greater power.
Hiroaki Sakurai, known for The Disastrous Life of Saiki K., is directing the anime at STUDIO fu. Sayuri Oba is handling the scripts, while Takahiro Yoshimatsu is the character designer. Sakurai commented:
"The original work began as a novel before becoming a comic and gaining worldwide popularity. It was an honor to adapt it into an anime, but at the same time, I also felt the pressure.
But! The moment Takahiro Yoshimatsu was chosen as the character designer, I felt the path toward the anime adaptation open up and become much clearer. With the team, the cast, and the power of the music further strengthening that path, I feel we are now moving forward steadily with production."
