SHINee’s Onew Officially Releases a New Single Album Titled Chakgak, Showcasing a Stunning New Side of Himself!
--
TAME OTONITY – SHINee’s Onew has officially returned to greet his fans with his latest musical release. On Tuesday (Oct. 20) at 6:00 p.m. KST, the idol released his new single album titled “Chakgak.”
The title “Chakgak” itself means “mistake” or “illusion” in Korean, with the English title “Illusion.” Along with the album’s release, the music video for the title track of the same name was also officially released and is now available for fans to watch.
The album features three main tracks: “Chakgak,” “Tic Tac Toe,” and “Mind Games.” Interestingly, Onew is said to be challenging his own preconceptions about his vocal abilities through this work.
Until now, Onew believed that his voice was best suited for slow-tempo songs like ballads. However, for his latest single album, he actually chose a dance track as the lead single.
This decision demonstrates Onew’s courage to step out of his comfort zone and explore a different musical style. The title “Chakgak,” which means “illusion,” seems to reflect the singer’s journey in breaking through the limitations he had long believed about himself.
Meanwhile, the song “Mind Games” is said to offer a different vibe from the lead track “Chakgak.” With three lead tracks on a single album, Onew seems intent on showcasing his broad musical spectrum to listeners.
As one of SHINee’s lead vocalists, Onew is known for his distinctive and emotionally charged vocal style. It’s no wonder that his solo releases are always eagerly anticipated, both by Shawol (SHINee’s fanbase) and fans of K-pop in general.
