The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered Review: CD Projekt Red Elevates a Masterpiece to New Technical Heights

--

TAME MANGA - CD Projekt Red has officially launched The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, delivering a comprehensive technical overhaul of the critically acclaimed 2015 action role-playing game. Developed to leverage the maximum hardware capabilities of current-generation consoles and high-end PCs, this remastered edition transitions the journey of Geralt of Rivia into a modern visual powerhouse.

Available across platforms including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC via Steam, and the new Nintendo Switch 2, the game redefines what modern remasters can achieve by introducing native integration of state-of-the-art rendering technologies.

The core gameplay loop, structural narrative, and extensive world-building of the base game along with its award-winning expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, remain uncompromised. Players step back into the boots of the titular monster hunter, navigating the war-torn lands of the Continent, the bustling streets of Novigrad, and the breathtaking volcanic peaks of Toussaint. However, the experiential layer of the title has been thoroughly redesigned through substantial quality-of-life adjustments and engine-level programming upgrades.

Ray Tracing, Enhanced Resolution, and Nintendo Switch 2 Optimization

The definitive upgrade of this remastered package is the implementation of Real-Time Ray Tracing (RTX) for global illumination, ambient occlusion, and reflections. On the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the game offers two distinct graphics modes: a Performance Mode targeting a locked 60 frames per second at dynamic 4K resolution, and a Ray Tracing Mode that locks at a stable 30 frames per second to deliver cinematic, realistic lighting behavior across wet surfaces and indoor environments. Character models have received high-polygon updates, and environment textures have been upscaled to native 4K using advanced asset pipeline techniques.

Special technical care was given to the newly launched Nintendo Switch 2 version. Moving away from the heavily compromised visual layout of the original hybrid-console port, the Switch 2 edition operates smoothly utilizing modern hardware-accelerated upscaling solutions.
