The gameplay will focus on climbing from a first-person perspective. Players must traverse exposed ledges and ridges while carefully controlling each movement to avoid falling. At the same time, they need to hide from the creature, using the surrounding environment to stay out of its line of sight.

Height, wind, and darkness will be key elements in creating tension during the climb. Furthermore, failure will carry special significance for the protagonists, as defeat means not only falling into the abyss but also jeopardizing the reputation they’ve built around their challenges.
BrokenLore: ASCEND will be a new standalone story within this saga’s universe, which already boasts an impressive lineup of 8 games.
BrokenLore: ASCEND is a first-person psychological horror game developed by Serafini Productions that features a unique formula combining the trend of rooftop climbing (extreme rooftop climbing) with a supernatural Japanese folklore story. The game is scheduled for official release on January 7, 2027, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam/Epic Games Store).
The game’s story follows the adventures of Ren and Yui, two illegal rooftop climbers from Japan who undertake a daring climb up Elysium Tower—the tallest building in Japan—for the sake of their streaming channel’s content. It satirizes modern humanity’s obsession with popularity, the fear of being forgotten, and the loss of identity in pursuit of validation on social media.
This game is one of the pillars of Serafini Productions’ interactive horror game universe (alongside other titles such as *BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW* and *BrokenLore: DON’T PLAY*), which focuses on psychological manipulation and distortions of reality in the style of the legendary *Silent Hill* series.
