The Availability of the Solo Leveling Web Novel Reveals the True Consequences of Tapas' Closure

--

TAME OTONITY – The recent shutdown of Tapas has caused a stir in the webtoon and manhwa communities. Despite being the second-most-popular webtoon platform in North America—featuring popular titles such as *Solo Leveling*, *SSS-Class Revival Hunter*, *The Beginning After The End*, and many more—Tapas was quietly shut down by Kakao Entertainment just five years after the company acquired it.

Starting October 1, users will no longer be able to purchase Ink, the platform’s unique currency used to unlock chapters. Meanwhile, existing Ink can only be used until March 31, 2027, which will effectively mark the end of Tapas’s service.

This announcement has prompted readers to scramble for alternatives to Tapas and places to read their favorite manhwa, such as *Solo Leveling* and its ongoing sequel, *Solo Leveling: Ragnarok*—but fortunately, these two fan favorites in particular have found new homes in North America.

Although Tapas may have been the leading webtoon and manhwa platform after Webtoon for many years, there are certainly plenty of alternatives to Tapas, especially for popular titles like Solo Leveling.

Tapas previously hosted the completed web novel and manhwa versions of *Solo Leveling*, as well as the recently completed web novel and the ongoing webtoon edition of *Solo Leveling: Ragnarok*. However, fans need not worry, as both series are available on alternative platforms such as Tappytoon, Manta, and many more.

Currently, Tappytoon features the *Solo Leveling* webtoon and its sequel, with the first three chapters of each series available for free.
