Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia Episode 12 (Finale) Preview and Synopsis Released

Joining her as director on *Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia* is Abel Góngora, who co-directed the second season of *DAN DA DAN*. Studio Science SARU, recently acquired by TOHO, is also well known for the quality of its anime, including hits such as *Devilman: Crybaby*, *Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken*, *DAN DA DAN*, and the recent *SANDA*.
Tomato Soup writes and illustrates the historical manga series *A Witch’s Life in Mongolia* (*Tenmaku no Jadugaru*), which began serialization on Akita Shoten’s Souffle website in September 2021. As of April 2025, five volumes have been released.
The manga took first place in Takarajimasha’s “This Manga is Amazing! 2023” (Women’s Edition) and was nominated for the Manga Taisho Awards for two consecutive years (2023 and 2024). Yen Press has licensed the manga in English.
This story takes place in the 13th century, during the height of the Mongol Empire’s power and its massive territorial expansion under the leadership of Genghis Khan. The plot revolves around Sitara, an intelligent young woman from Persia. Sitara’s peaceful life is turned upside down after her city, Tus, is brutally attacked by the forces of Tolui, the fourth prince of the Mongol Empire. As a result of the invasion, her patron and her adoptive family are killed, and Sitara herself is taken prisoner.
Driven by deep grief and a desire for revenge, Sitara resolves to survive using the only weapons she possesses: her intelligence and her knowledge. She infiltrates the heart of the empire by assuming the identity of her former mistress, Fatima.
At the Mongol court, Fatima unexpectedly meets Töregene, the wife of the Third Prince, Ögedei. Töregene, it seems, also hides a dark past and harbors the same deep hatred for the Mongol Empire. The meeting of these two intelligent women becomes a major turning point. When they decide to work together, the wheels of fate begin to turn, shaking and toppling the world’s greatest empire from within.
