Season 2 will pick up the story several years after the first season, as Ray and his classmates face a new, major magic competition. The official announcement refers to the “Magics War,” a large-scale battle in which teams of three compete beyond the boundaries of their respective academies.
The production is also switching studios. Zero-G will now handle the animation, taking over from Cloud Hearts, which produced the first season. Masahiro Takata returns as director, series composer, and sound director, while Mariko Kawamoto will take charge of character design and chief animation director.
The new season’s opening theme will be “Diamond Dust” by Sizuk. Maaya Uchida will perform the ending theme, titled “COMPRESSION :[.” The official website has also published comments from cast members, including Junya Enoki, the voice of Ray, who encourages viewers to rewatch Season 1 before the new episodes air.
The original animated series Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World premiered in January 2023 and was released internationally on Crunchyroll. Season 2 is now set to pick up Ray's story nearly three years after the end of the first season.
Unlike many overpowered protagonists who are arrogant or show off their power, Ray White is actually very humble and polite. He deliberately hides his identity as the world’s most powerful wizard because he wants to experience a normal teenage life and heal from his past trauma (PTSD) from the battlefield. The contrast between his friendly personality and his terrifying power in battle provides a unique sense of satisfaction for viewers.
